Day 57: Wed 16 Jun - Kununurra

14-33 degC - due to the low humidity it was a perfect day

The start of week 9 on the road.

After our walks and breakfast, we got out early on the bikes as Wendy had to work.   Called in at the very busy and well run Puma Servo/Store/Cafe/Bakery for coffee and a treat.  All young staff who did a great job of running the show.  The coffee, carrot cake and vanilla slice were pretty darn good too.  The local council here have done a great job on the walking/bike paths considering the size of the town and that is why we enjoy our daily rides. What they need to do now, is get the idiots who smash glass bottles all over the paths out every morning to clean it up. We know that will never happen though.

After mornos Wendy went to work while Greg continued to ride and visit a couple of galleries.  The first one being the Kimberley Ornamental Stonecraft which had an excellent display of different kinds of stone carvings, the main one being Zebra Stone.  The next place was a First Nation Art Gallery which are starting to look all the same now.  Although a lot of the merchandise has what appears to be aboringinal art, most of it is mass produced in China and of poor quality.  Maybe the overseas visitors would like it, if they were here, but I didn't see a lot of Aussies buying it.

Seeing as though we are in Argyle diamond country, Wendy decided to shout herself a two-tone gold Boab (similar to the Africa Baobab) tree pendant with two imbedded fruits (diamonds, no not pink). Whilst the tree was a stock standard one, Wendy got to choose the fruit and where they went. So, whilst she went back to the shop in the afternoon to pick it up, Greg went for another ride.

Another great day in WA.
