Up early to catch another sunrise, which was a little ordinary today. Greg reckons it's the best time of the day, even though it's a little "cool" this time of the year. Sadly we are leaving the goldfields today as the Cruiser is booked in for a service in Kalgoorlie on Tuesday. After breakfast we waited for Klas to come in from his early morning detecting foray. He likes to find a 'morning glory' nugget before morning tea, which he did. We then had the group mornos and said our farewells. We would have gladly stayed for much longer, beautiful spot fantastic company.
We were back on the road about 10 am and after a steady 50 km on a pretty good dirt road we were back on the WA highway heading West. We had no choice but to backtrack through Laverton and Leonora. It was a very quick and easy drive today, pulled into our overnight stop at the lovely little town of Menzies at 2:45 pm. Site #7 of the excellent little caravan park. "The Sticks" is great but it's also nice to have 240v power, very fast internet and even the giggle box, not that we missed TV at all.
After a quick set-up we headed out to check out the interesting looking buildings and street art we noticed on the way into town. Again, the main reason for the town's existence was gold. Immaculate little place which has put a lot of effort into keeping the streets clean, tidy and well maintained.
A relaxing Sunday dinner of leftovers and then early to bed.
