After our individual morning walks, breakfast and some washing duties, we set off on the bikes. Greg had seen The Dome Café on his wanders and reckons it looked pretty good. It ended up being the best morning tea of this trip, apart from the homemade ones of course. The coffees were perfect, the cakes were yummy and the décor superb. We guessed that the building was built about the start of the last century and it was either beautifully maintained or restored to perfection.
Fuelled up, we continued our meander around town a little more, enjoying the historic buildings and parks. Not a day to stand around so we headed back to the van park the long way. It wasn't t a long ride (18 km), but it was very pleasant nevertheless. The sneaky breeze meant that we both wore our wind jackets the whole ride.
Home for lunch, then back to Woolies to restock before heading out tomorrow. Initially we will be driving South to Norseman (184 km) then East to Port Augusta, SA for 1 849 km. If the NSW/QLD border is still closed (we're just about certain it will be) we will turn left at Port Augusta and head North to the Three Ways (1 759 km) NT, via Alice Springs. From there it is a right turn (East) for the run home, 2 316 km. The weather situation will dictate whether we take our time or move right along. The forecast for the Nullarbor at this stage doesn't look promising so that might be a straight run over a few days. Strangely enough our last two crossings of the Nullarbor, "the driest place on earth" were wet. The fact that we have options to get home are fortunate, although we're not in any hurry at all. Stay tuned for further updates.
The rest of the afternoon was spent getting the van and tug ready for an early start tomorrow.
