After breakfast, we waited for the temperature to creep past 10 deg C before heading out on the bikes. First stop was at the Camels adjacent the railway, then the Ghan Railway Station. Not sure if the Ghan is still running during this particular Delta strain outbreak, but the terminal was shut up tight.
Next stop was the Museum of Central Australia. We have visited many museums on our trips, both here in Aus, and overseas but this was the best by far. All the exhibits were top notch and brilliantly displayed and explained. The highlight was the taxidermy section of all the little critters and slithery ones; incredible detail. Well done the NT.
It was then onto the Alice Springs Reptile Centre which, strangely enough, had a lot of lizards and snakes! It wasn't a big building so the individual cages were not as big for the critters as we would have liked. The Alice Springs Desert Park, which we visited during our last trip was a much kinder place for the residence. However, it was good to see the deadly snakes up close and personal.
There is an Ecofair on in Alice Springs this weekend at the Botanic Gardens, so off we rode to see what it was all about. You'd really have to attend the workshops to appreciate the whole thing. The Greens were there of course preaching their doom and gloom, as they do.
We then took the long way home via the Alice Springs Telegraph Station, just because it was such a lovely day. We had visited the Museum here last time and didn't feel it was necessary to do it again.
After some lunch and a rest Greg couldn't help himself and took off on the bike again. With perfect weather and an amazing cycle path system he just can't get enough of this place. Wendy opted for some housework; much more exciting!
Dinner was at Uncles Tavern again, and the food was just as good as it was on Thu night.
