Another beautiful morning at the showgrounds and racetrack. A leisurely breakfast followed by a slow pack-up and we were on the road, heading for Lake Dunn, via Aramac and one leg of the Sculpture Trail, at 8:40 am.
We arrived at Aramac just in time for mornos but didn't see a cafe, so brewed up in the van. We decided not to linger too long as we are coming back here after Lake Dunn, so didn't want to spoil that stay.
After stopping to photograph and view 10 sculptures (out of 11), we arrived at the Lake Dunn camp ground about 11:30 am, just intime for lunch.
We have our own private little 'beach overlooking the very full lake between two wattle trees. After lunch and a little rest, we hopped on the bikes and rode out on the dirt road section of the Sculpture Trail for about 4 km, then it got a little soft and sandy for Wendy so we came back and rode on the sealed road the way we came in. On the dirt road, we came across another sculpture so had to stop and photograph that. We also came across a dead snake, what we believe to be an Eastern Brown, about 5ft long. It was fat and looked to be in excellent condition except he had been hit by a car and had a nasty wound about half way along its body. We hate seeing wildlife that has been killed on the road, there is so much of it out here.
Sitting writing this blog looking at the water, drinking a gree tea, in perfect weather conditions, listening to the sounds of the birds and fellow caravaners and watching Greg do his afternoon exercises and stretches. What a life, it certainly doesn’t get any better.
The roads we took today were totally new ones for us, and were surprisingly good, even the one lane sections, considering where we are in Australia. We are lucky to see such lushness in the countryside as it has been in the grips of drought for many years. They had good rains about three weeks ago and there is still some surface water about.
