We were on the road again a bit before 8:30 am heading for Longreach. This was another new road for us and we encountered two vehicles and one vehicle/caravan combo. Oh, and also a vehicle towing a trailer with a quad in it overtook us at a great rate resulting in a large stone being flung against the side of the cruiser that chipped the paint work; could have been a lot worse.
We stopped about half way for mornos as Greg couldn't wait any longer. Just brewed up on the side of the road with the pod machine and microwave.
Before settling into camp for the night, we refuelled at the Puma self-serve depot at Longreach and were setting up at the Rooster Farm (because there’s a flock of wild chooks, including roosters in the bush nearby) (aka Apex Riverside Park) about 10:30 am. A little wander, lunch then LLD before heading into Longreach, on the bikes, to do some grocery shopping and find an electric jug. When we were at Lake Dunn, on the second day the van power kept tripping out and despite our best efforts, we could not definitively determine the cause however we suspected the electric jug. When we arrived at Aramac and were on power, we tried to make a brew and the power tripped again. So by process of elimination, again, we discovered it was definitely the jug; it went in the bin pretty quickly!
To make it more than just a grocery ride, we rode out to the QANTAS museum, but didn’t go in as we had not long been there last year. We rode through the caravan park we stayed at last time we were here and it is about 80% full and peak season has not even started yet. We think the place we are in at the moment will be absolutely full in two weeks time when the Longreach Show is on, there will be no room to put your awning out.
Found a jug at Foodworks, not that we can use it as we are on free electricity tonight.
