Day 62: Mon 21 Jun - Wyndham to Warmun (Turkey Creek), 206 km; total towed: 5 983 km

13-29 degC

We were up with the sparrows this morning to get an early start to be guaranteed a van spot at the Warmun Roadhouse Caravan Park which we tried to book but were told to just turn up. So we left Wyndham at 7:15 am and arrived at Warmun at 10 am.  The scenery along the way, like most of the country up here, is very ancient looking and stunningly beautiful.  We did stop once, only to make a brew to go.  Upon arrival at Warmun, we had the pick of six sites and chose #4.  Set up, and then got to planning the next few stops of the trip. Our vehicle is close to needing a 30k service, and we figured Kalgoorlie would be a good place to do it. We managed to book a CP at Broome (which we were told we would not be able to do), and then worked from there to be in Kalgoorlie hopefully on 25 Jul.  So booked the service for 27 Jul. We've not booked any other CPs, if we can't get in anywhere we want to stay we'll just move on.  With WA school holidays starting on 3 Jul, it might become a little busy.

After lunch and an LLD, we did some computer work, then went for a ride around the Community of Warmun.   The majority of the town looks quite new with some very nice common use buildings and houses.  However it is already showing some disturbing signs of damage and abuse, as is common with many government handouts.  It was not a huge place and 7 km later we were back at the van. It was then time for an ice cream and a relax before dinner.

We are here for three nights and are off to explore the Bungle Bungles, aka Purnululu tomorrow. We have been informed by a number of fellow campers that the road in is B A D; 2 hours to drive 50 km, so we will see. Stay tuned!
