Greg was up with the sparrows again for a walk out to the 'Hole in the Rock', whilst Wendy chose a shorter walk. After breakfast, about 8:50 am, we were on our way to Leonora. Stopped for mornos at a road side pullover. We saw many gold mine sites along the way, and the majority of RV'ers in the area are prospectors of some description. After all these years you would think that all the gold would have been found by now, but obviously not.
Set up on #34 at Leonora Caravan Park just after 11 am. Wendy immediately got down to the important task of washing the clothes. Not a great day for washing, so had to put some of it in the dryer to get it completely dry.
Before lunch, we went for a walk up and down the main street of Leonora. Most of the shops are currently permanently closed, a familiar tale in these gold-mining towns. Back at the van we had lunch then a rest. Greg went for another walk while Wendy finished off the domestic chores. It was then time for dinner at the White House Hotel. We arrived a tad early (restaurant only opens at 6 pm), so we had a drink in the bar. At 6 pm on the dot we entered the restaurant and were the first to order. The meals were superb. A short walk home settled the tummies.
Tomorrow we will take an excursion without the van East of Leonora to meet up with our neighbours from home. We will hopefully join them in their prospecting endeavours on Monday after checking out of Leonora.
