Day 94: Fri 23 Jul – Jubilee Mine

3-17 degC, mainly sunny with some cloudy periods, the lazy wind started about midday

Our last full day of the camping with our gold-detecting friends.  Their routine of gold detecting, mornos, gold detecting, lunch, rest, afternoon tea, gold detecting, drinks and dinner is very casual, relaxing and easy to follow.  We soon became amazingly comfortable with it and enjoyed the lack of constantly driving and setting up camp.  Mona made a yummy chocolate and cream cake which we made short work of during afternoon tea.  Mornos and afternoon are a very important and social part of the day.

We somehow developed a problem with our gas hot water heater, but Wolfgang (sparky/Mr Fixit) soon had it going again.  A dodgy HWS is the last thing we need during winter in the middle of nowhere. We’ll have to get it serviced somewhere along the line, or when we get home.

No more nuggets for Greg, although with everything else going on today he didn’t go out till late afternoon and then only for about an hour.  He leaves the site happy that he was able to give gold detecting a try and spend time in a fantastic location.  During drinks this afternoon, as the sun was setting the nearly full moon was rising; what a sight, we feel that we are so lucky to be in such a location.  We would never have been able to be here if it weren’t for our lovely neighbours.  Thank you Klas and Mona and thank you Wolfgang and Christina, our new friends.

Homemade pizza for dinner capped off another wonderful day in the great outdoors.
