Day 19: Sun 9 May - Mt Isa

18-32 degC, fine and very sunny - a perfect day really.

After our walks and breakfast we set off on the bikes to Lake Moondarra.  When we checked yesterday, Google said it was 17 km from the van park and mostly flat. Well, it turned out to be 19 km and very undulating, especially the last 6 km.  It was nice to find a bicycle path all the way to the Lake.  The elevation profile doesn't really show how 'undulating' it really was. But, we got there in the end and back again into town for a coffee and muffin at Coffee Club, total of 44km. Back home for lunch and an LLD.

Greg discovered he had a puncture, which turned into three patches later, all thorns.  After fixing those we both did some work on the computers in the afternoon and relaxed. Can't fly the drone here as the van park is directly under the flight path.

The flies are not as numerous or friendly in the Isa, probably due to the region being mainly dedicated to mining, while Boulia was cattle and more cattle, both passing through on the backs of trucks and in the paddocks.  So we're enjoying sitting outside under the awning in perfect weather without them invading every orifice.

There were 7 of these at the lake

Road train coming through town, took one minute to get through the intersection as he had to wind it up from a standing start

The area is terraced so the ground is not far from the roof.
